07 Dec Colts nominate Darius Butler for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award
Darius Butler has joined the long list of Indianapolis Colts players to be nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
Joe Reitz was last year’s nominee by the Colts. Only two Colts players have ever won the award with Peyton Manning taking home the honor in 2005 and Johnny Unitas winning the inaugural award in 1970 with the Baltimore Colts.
The award was created in 1970 but renamed in 1999. In 2016 Eli Manning and Larry Fitzgerald were named co-winners.
“It’s definitely an honor to be amongst the former greats that have been here like Peyton Manning, Antoine Bethea, Pat McAfee and David Thornton who have been nominated for this prestigious award,” Butler said. “I’m just proud to be mentioned amongst that group.”
