12 Nov Darius Butler Interception Seals Colts Win!
There was rivalry in the locker room, and everyone from the owner on down was ready to proclaim it a potentially season-turning win.
But who knows how the Indianapolis Colts’ 27-24 victory against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium might have turned out if not for David Parry and Darius Butler.
Raise your hand if you had that duo pegged for heroes.
Neither registered much of a stat line. Parry, the rookie defensive tackle and former Stanford walk-on, didn’t even have a tackle. But he nearly did. And in this case, it was enough.
It happened with 6:06 remaining in the game and Denver with the ball at its own 33, trailing 27-24. Oh, and Peyton Manning at the controls. The Colts had just taken the lead on a 55-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal, but the previous three Denver drives had ended like this:
Touchdown. Field goal. Touchdown.
